In this episode of the Family Protection Ministries podcast, Nathan looks at the end of California’s 2026 legislative session and discusses what homeschool families should be watching as bills make their way through the final weeks of the session.
The episode begins with a reminder from Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Fear God and keep His commandments.” Nathan discusses the ultimate purpose of education—not simply good grades, safety, or avoiding negative influences, but teaching our children wisdom, godliness, and a reverence for God so they can live to serve and glorify Him.
Nathan then gives an update on California legislation, including AB 1188, which would provide homeschool students access to JROTC programs. He also explains why the final weeks of the legislative session can be especially important, with bills being amended, moving through committees, and heading to the Governor.
Finally, Nathan talks about the upcoming Homeschool Freedom Day on September 12 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, featuring great speakers, fellowship, snacks, and the opportunity to explore the Reagan Library.
