Dear Friends,
As we navigate the complex landscape of education today, I want to take a moment to share the core reasons behind our mission at Family Protection Ministries (FPM) and the values that drive our work in advocating for private homeschooling and parental rights. It is important to me that you understand the purpose behind this advocacy—especially as we stand together in the face of unique challenges.
At the heart of my philosophy—and the philosophy of my team—is the strong belief that parents are the primary, God-ordained educators of their children. Scripture calls us to this important duty, particularly in Deuteronomy 6:6-9, where we are reminded to teach our children about the values we hold dear. This responsibility is sacred and must not be delegated to the state; we each stand accountable to God for the upbringing and education of our children.
As we reflect on our rights, it’s essential to remember that our nation was founded on the principle that governments are instituted among men to secure these rights —not to destroy or control them. This foundational idea is at the heart of our advocacy work. We must be vigilant against regulations that might seem harmless at first, but, in reality, lead to increased control over what and how our children are taught. Every year, my team and I work diligently to examine hundreds of bills introduced in the California Legislature, identifying any legislation that could pose a threat to our freedoms as parents. With God’s help, we engage in this fight, not only to protect our rights, but to ensure that they remain respected and honored.
Our commitment to limited government involvement in education stems from this understanding of foundational rights. We’ve seen how government funding can often come with conditions that compromise our ability to educate our children in accordance with our beliefs. Our focus is not only about refusal or protection; it’s about promoting an educational environment that empowers families to thrive and flourish in liberty.
Empowering families to make informed educational choices is another vital part of our mission. Every one of you has the right to decide what approach is best for your children—whether that be homeschooling, private schooling, or other educational options—without interference from the government. By advocating for educational freedom, we can create a community where families choose the paths that resonate with their values.
I also firmly believe in the power of community and collaboration. It’s essential for us to come together as a united front. By working alongside other families and trusted advocacy groups, we can effectively protect our rights as parents. I truly appreciate the connections we’ve built together; they enable us to present a strong voice against any threats to homeschooling and to raise awareness about our rights.
Ultimately, the fight for educational freedom is not just a legal battle; it’s a moral one rooted in our shared values and deeper duty to God. I encourage you all to stand firm in your beliefs and work together to protect your rights. With God’s help, we can nurture and educate our children in ways that reflect our family values—this is our rightful responsibility.
Thank you for your ongoing support! Together, my team and I can work to protect an educational landscape that celebrates personal freedom, responsibility, and the importance of family. Your involvement makes all the difference and inspires us every day to work for the educational freedoms we cherish!
