Where Do We Go From Here?

Let’s look at the next step for this bill and some opportunities to potentially influence the outcome.

Remember that each committee hearing and floor vote is an opportunity for a bill to be stopped.

The next stop for SB 866 is the Senate Floor. That means the bill will be voted on by the entire State Senate. This vote could happen as early as their session next Monday, May 9th at 2:00 PM.

If you haven’t contacted your California State Senator yet about SB 866, please do so today. It can be a call, but please also consider sending a letter as they are not as common and can have a significant impact.

Question About Calling Your Legislator or the Governor’s Office:

What If I am asked for my name and phone number?

If you call as an individual and are asked for your name and phone number, please consider providing them so that your call for or against the proposal will be tallied. The practice of gathering this kind of information is often used to gain an idea of the extent of support and opposition. This information has never been used by legislators to track down people who oppose or support any legislation.
