Reagan Library Hold the Line Event Recap

by | Oct 2, 2025 | All Posts, Articles

Hold the Line is a focused, community-based event hosted by Family Protection Ministries (FPM) to educate and equip local families on the importance of private homeschooling, family freedoms, and active advocacy. Unlike larger conferences or training days, Hold the Line is a smaller, condensed, and highly practical event designed to reach communities directly where they are.

The event is designed to educate families about the value of private homeschooling and alert them to current and upcoming threats to parental rights, education freedom, and the family. Through these events, Nathan also desires to equip citizens to engage in advocacy and local politics, to make a difference in their community and state, and to inspire families with personal stories of why private homeschooling matters and is worth protecting.

On July 12, FPM hosted a very special rendition of Hold the Line. Event attendees were blessed by being able to attend this impactful event at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley! The day started off with a casual, social time on the front lawn of the venue. While enjoying coffee and bagels, attendees were able to mingle and get to know each other a bit. Nathan was able to come out and visit with people as well!

After that time, attendees made their way downstairs where FPM staff had prepared a room for them to listen to Nathan’s presentation. He spoke about the history of private education in California and the substantial attacks that have come against it. He also outlined current bills in the legislature that pose a considerable danger to the homeschool freedom we currently enjoy in California. He encouraged participants to visit their local district offices and make positive connections with their legislators.

Angela Lasch shared about Christian Home Educators Association of California (CHEA) and the vital work they do to support private homeschooling families. Attendees were able to gain further encouragement by browsing materials from event sponsors HSLDA and BJU Press.

Once Nathan’s presentation was completed, attendees were able to spend the rest of the day exploring the Reagan Library. This venue offers so much to see–from the stunning exhibit of Air Force One, to the many historical items documenting Reagan’s presidency, to the actual resting places of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Of particular interest was the exhibit featuring the Dead Sea Scrolls. FPM staff had worked diligently to ensure that our Hold the Line event at the Reagan Library would coincide with this opportunity to see an extraordinary piece of history.

All in all, it was an exemplary event, providing attendees and FPM staff alike the opportunity  to gain a deeper understanding of the educational landscape in California and to appreciate the recent history of our nation alongside the ancient history that supports the integrity of Scripture. We at FPM look forward to holding more Hold The Line events in the future to share this educational experience with previous and future attendees.
