Monthly Prayer Email – October
โContinue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.โ
Colossians 4:2
Dear Family Protection Ministry Partners and Supporters,
This October, we at FPM are thanking God for the way He has provided for us through the year so far and are gearing up for the start of the next legislative session that starts in December. With less than 2 months before things kick off, we have a lot to do to be ready for the start of session. Pray for our equipment to keep working and for volunteers and interns to be available for the prep work needed in November and December. Also pray for the election coming up on November 5th. Please also continue in prayer for Godโs provision for FPM.
Over the years the Lord has sustained and provided for this ministry in numerous ways. It is because of you that we can fight for the protection of homeschooling and parental rights. We are thankful that the Lord has given us this stewardship and opportunity to serve you!
Recently, we began considering the importance and impact of prayer. Many individuals and churches are praying for us as we lean on the Lord for His strength in this anti-Christian, anti-family culture. Because of your faithfulness and desire to keep praying for us, we have decided to send out a monthly prayer email. We would like to keep you informed of upcoming events that you can be praying for, and then we will share how the Lord answered those prayers!
In addition to praying for events, we also ask that you keep our state legislators, California Supreme Court Justices, and other elected officials in your prayers. This is extremely important as 1 Timothy 2:1-2 instructs us to do so. Below you will find a calendar with our leadersโ names assigned to different days. We encourage you to print it out and put it next to your Bible so you can be praying for these people daily.
Please enjoy this first edition of our monthly prayer email!

| THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING FOR GOVERNMENT LEADERS 1 Timothy 2:1-4 โFirst of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.โ In this passage, the Apostle Paul urges his young apprentice, Timothy, who was serving as a pastor in Ephesus, to teach Godโs people to pray for everyone, but especially โfor kings and all who are in authorityโ — i.e. for government leaders. Why does God want us to pray for our government leaders? Undoubtedly, it is because the decisions this relatively small group of people makes can have an outsized influence on everyone else, including on those of us who follow Jesus. With simply a shout of an order or the signing of a document, they can bring either widespread blessing or extensive destruction. What should we pray for? Notice the context: God โdesires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.โ We therefore pray especially for God to send His people to government officials to tell them about Him (see Romans 10:14-15), to open their hearts to the Good News of Jesus, and for them to then come to an increasing knowledge of and obedience to the truth of His Word. Exactly how God works through our prayers may remain somewhat of a mystery to us, but if interceding for our leaders were not important and effective, then Paul, writing through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, would not have emphasized it so much. As we go about our daily lives and hear more news about our government leaders, letโs develop the habit of regularly pausing to intercede for them, as God has instructed, and trust Him with the results. Upcoming Events
Praying for What God Can Do!
Homeschool Defender Webinar
Coming up in November, FPM will be hosting the Homeschool Defender Webinar. This dynamic, live event will teach simple methods people can use to make a big impact for the future of private home education in California. Please pray that people would register for this online event, and that they would be inspired to take action by dropping off a Homeschool Information Packet at the local office of their California legislator.
Capitol Day 2025
Please be in prayer for our Capitol Day 2025! This event is especially vital for the many new legislators and their new aides who have not yet become familiar with private home education. In fact, a significant number of the legislators and their aides have no idea how private homeschooling works, either practically or legally, or that there are homeschoolers in their districts. Please pray that the Lord will work in the legislator’s hearts as we make an effort to leave an impact and preserve our freedoms through this event.

Homeschool Freedom Day 2025
Homeschool Freedom Day was a huge success! Thank you for praying! The Lord brought many participants to the event – far more than we had originally expected! Attendance more than tripled from HFD last year, and for that we are so grateful. We were able to share with the homeschool families and leaders about the many battles we face in the California Legislature to protect homeschool freedoms. Our theme verse for the event was Proverbs 22:29, โDo you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.โ Pray that the HFD attendees would be encouraged, share with others what they learned, and make a positive difference by homeschooling.
Thank you for praying for FPM.
