Monthly Prayer Email – March

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

A Note From Nathan

Dear Friends,

We are already well into March, and the pace of this legislative season has reminded me once again how quickly the days move when the work is urgent. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer.

This month has brought both encouragement and heightened responsibility.

As you know, the California Legislature is actively moving bills that could significantly impact parental rights and homeschool freedom. Some proposals require careful monitoring; others demand thoughtful engagement and strategic response. Behind every bill number is a real family, real children, and real consequences. We do not take that lightly.

Please pray specifically for:

โ€ข Wisdom โ€” That we would discern clearly which issues require immediate action and which require patient, long-term strategy.
โ€ข Favor โ€” That our relationships with legislators and staff would continue to be marked by respect, credibility, and openness.
โ€ข Clarity of speech โ€” That when we testify, write, or meet privately with policymakers, our words would be gracious and persuasive.
โ€ข Protection for homeschool freedom โ€” That harmful proposals would be amended, slowed, or stopped altogether.
โ€ข Endurance โ€” Legislative advocacy is often steady, unseen work. Pray that we would remain faithful and steadfast.

As I reflect on this season, Philippians 4:8 continues to anchor me โ€” to think on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. In a climate that can easily become reactive or anxious, we are called to act with conviction but without fear.

This year marks our 40th year of ministry, and I am deeply aware that we stand on the shoulders of faithful men and women who held the line before us. Now it is our turn to steward that freedom for the next generation.

I also want to share candidly about a difficult development within our ministry. Over the past several months, we have been working hard to reduce expenses wherever possible. I have been cutting staff hours and postponing projects in order to stretch every dollar wisely and protect the long-term stability of the ministry.

Even with these steps, we have reached the difficult point of laying off several part-time staff members.

This was not an easy decision. It was made carefully, prayerfully, and with a deep sense of responsibility before the Lord and before those who faithfully support this mission. We want you to know that we are doing everything we can to remain financially disciplined while continuing to defend families and advance the work God has entrusted to us.

We are hopeful that this is a temporary season of tightening, and we trust the Lordโ€™s provision as we move forward โ€” not only for the ministry, but also for each staff member affected. Please pray that the Lord would guide them to new employment soon and encourage them during this season of transition.

On a personal note, thank you for praying for Betsy and our family as well. The pace of travel, meetings, and legislative analysis is full, but we are grateful to serve in this moment. The Lord has been kind.

Your prayers truly matter. There are meetings you will never attend, conversations you will never hear, and decisions you will never see โ€” but your intercession shapes them all.

Thank you for walking with us, for praying, and for partnering with us so that this work can continue.

With gratitude,

Nathan Pierce
