Keep me, O God, for I take refuge in you. Psalm 16:1
Let Me Be Frank About Finances
Over the past few years we at FPM have struggled to stay in the black. As much as we have tried to cut costs, our donations have declined as costs have gone up. Many of our supporters have continued to give generously and sacrificially – some radically so. If that’s you, please know that we would not be here today if it were not for you. You’ve really kept us going.
That being said, many of our faithful donors are struggling financially themselves and have been unable to continue giving. I am not unsympathetic. The increasingly high cost of living in California has hurt everyone.
We have pushed hard to rise to the challenges we have faced in the legislature this past year. These threats included parental rights issues involving vaccinations, the right of homeschool families to join together in co-ops and even the threat of government social workers being assigned to every infant born in California at birth. We have achieved victory in each of these battles but at great cost.
The fact of the matter is that our situation is worsening here at FPM. The ministry expenses over the last two years have drawn down our savings, which are now all but exhausted. The whole Pierce family works for and sacrifices for the ministry and we have been overstretched. I am FPM’s only full-time employee. That’s down from three full-time workers 10 years ago. Our small and overworked part time staff is desperately in need of additional help if we are to keep up with the pace of the California Legislature’s attacks on the family. At this time we simply do not have the funds to pay our current staff let alone hire much needed additional help.
The widow’s blessed oil went a long way and we are praying that the funds that come in today will in a similar way be enough to carry us forward into the new year.
I just wanted to be straight with you about the situation. If you value your parental rights, if you want to protect them and pass them on to your children and grandchildren in California and across the nation, today is the day to invest in that freedom. Please do it today.
