Reading Progress:

Help Support Homeschool Research!

by | Mar 5, 2025 | Alerts, All Posts

Dear Friend,

For the past 25 years, Iโ€™ve worked to protect homeschool freedom in California. Over that time, Iโ€™ve relied on the research done by Dr. Brian Ray and the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI), which has been crucial in supporting our cause.

Recently, Iโ€™ve been working with Dr. Ray to create a plan for both short-term and long-term studies on homeschooling in California and across the U.S. This research is vital for protecting homeschooling freedoms, now and in the future.

Right now, weโ€™re reviewing how we gather test results and family surveys, which are key to understanding the impact of homeschooling. To keep this research going, we need your help! We have an urgent bill for $1,177 that is due by March 14th. This bill covers the service we use to collect family survey data, which is essential for our research. Without this, we canโ€™t continue our work collecting statistics on homeschool students and families.

Can you help us cover this cost? Any amount you can contribute would make a big difference.

Thank you so much for your support.

Best regards,

Nathan Pierce

On behalf of the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI).

Question About Calling Your Legislator or the Governor’s Office:

What If I am asked for my name and phone number?

If you call as an individual and are asked for your name and phone number, please consider providing them so that your call for or against the proposal will be tallied. The practice of gathering this kind of information is often used to gain an idea of the extent of support and opposition. This information has never been used by legislators to track down people who oppose or support any legislation.
