At the beginning of August, Nathan Pierce was invited to be a guest on Pastor Adam Riojas podcast and radio show, “Freedom with Adam Riojas.” Pierce shares about his personal testimony and journey with Family Protection Ministries. He explains where FPM stands on AB 84- a bill that focuses on the misuse of government money in charter schools leading to more restrictions with charter teachers. On top of that, a new auditing office will be set up to oversee the financial aspect of charter schools. It is a response to how government funds are being used in charter programs, meaning there would be more government regulations.
Pierce states:
“There’s always been, even since this California Constitution was written, a clear distinction between public schools and private schools.”
Pierce goes on to explain the many differences between a public, government run schools- which are generally more restricted and monitored in their education- and private homeschools- which are fully run by parents- single families or groups of families with full control over curriculum and education.
“God gave children to parents, not to the state.”
Pierce shares what has been on the forefront of Family Protection Ministries work, bringing up the work done for private homeschools about a bill that would require every student in California- whether public or private- would have a student ID card required to have information about the Trevor Project for gender-confused students. The bill was being pushed for both public and private, however FPM was able to fight to exempt private home schools from the bill.
He also brings up the Make Homeschool Safe Act- a model bill pushing for more governmental oversight and control because they argue homeschooling is not safe for children. It would require every student to get vaccinated, as well as use the curriculum chosen by the government. Although, this model bill has not been introduced in California, it is still a topic to be closely watched and prayed for.
