Monthly Prayer Newsletter – December

โ€œFor to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.โ€

Isaiah 9:6

  • Your prayers during this critical time are invaluable, as they support the pursuit of wisdom and integrity for all those involved in governance and decision-making.
  • Please pray for wisdom for our Governor and all our legislators as they face important decisions in the days and weeks ahead.
  • Since the departure of our previous legislative aide, we are in need of funds for a full time legislative assistant. Please pray that the Lord will provide.
  • Please pray for Debra, the wife of FPM founder Roy Hanson, as she goes through cancer treatment.
  • Finally, pray for us at FPM that we would be prepared for the work that we need to do as the Legislature here in Sacramento starts introducing bills. They have already introduced over a hundred bills on day one of the legislative session so prayer that we can effectively monitor these bills is extremely necessary.

Dear Family Protection Ministry Partners and Supporters,

Christmas is just around the corner! As the Christmas season approaches, let us remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. Isaiah 9:6 reminds us that โ€œthe government shall be upon his shoulder.โ€ This is fitting for us to remember as a new administration is soon to enter the White House and a new legislative session is about to begin in the state of California.

During the holiday season people tend to be more receptive to hearing the gospel message so let us remember that as we pray for our legislators this month of December. Truth is desperately needed in the statehouse. Continue to pray for our Christian legislators seeking to honor Christ in a hostile environment and let us begin to pray for the several new California legislators that have been elected to office.

Amid the seasonal clutter of reindeer, snowmen, and Santa Claus, we welcome the sight of a nativity scene. Such a loved and familiar scene moves us to think over what it must have been like when Jesus was born so long ago in Bethlehem.

Were there smells? Were there flies? Certainly not the sanitary setting we would want. Luke tells us, Mary wrapped her firstborn child in cloths and “laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” What a bed for the King of Glory! (Surely we homeschoolers know how to relate to making good and creative use of what lies to hand!)

“No room for them in the inn.” How grateful the weary travelers must have been for the place in Bethlehem that God provided them in their need, when other doors were closed! It was not the usual setting for the birth of a king, yet it was what God chose for His Son. It was a part of God’s incomparable plan for our redemption and the glory in which we will share as fellow heirs with Christ.

We, too, bring our children into a world that can be indifferent or even hostile. Yet we, too, trust in a living, loving Heavenly Father who provides what we need and enables us to raise our children in “the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4) As God provided a place for His Son, so He will provide for us.

We at Family Protection Ministries are grateful to God that He continues to bless our efforts on behalf of California families to maintain the freedoms that allow families to educate their children at home and train them according to His Word. Thank you for all you do to help continue this important work, and may God’s richest blessings be upon your holiday celebration this year and deepen your love for Him.

Merry Christmas!

From all of us at Family Protection Ministries,

Nathan Pierce

Praying for What God Can Do!

Homeschool Defender Webinar

Please join FPM for the Homeschool Defender Webinar on December 5th! This dynamic, live event will teach simple methods people can use to make a big impact for the future of private home education in California. Please pray that people would register for this online event, and that they would be inspired to take action by dropping off a Homeschool Information Packet at the local office of their California legislator.

Capitol Day 2025

Please be in prayer for our Capitol Day 2025! This event is especially vital for the many new legislators and their new aides who have not yet become familiar with private home education. In fact, a significant number of the legislators and their aides have no idea how private homeschooling works, either practically or legally, or that there are homeschoolers in their districts. Please pray that the Lord will work in the legislator’s hearts as we make an effort to leave an impact and preserve our freedoms through this event.

Praising for What God Has Done!

Updated Website!

Thank you for praying for our website transition! This project took several months to complete. We are praising the Lord for the mostly smooth transition with little hiccups and are grateful for everyone who helped with this huge project. There will still be small fixes needed, but the whole of the site has been completed!

Thank you for praying for FPM! Your support makes this ministry happen!
