A Note From Nathan

Dear Friends,

At the California State Capitol, the month of April is often referred toโ€”somewhat jokinglyโ€”as โ€œhell month.โ€ This is due to the intense deadlines that determine whether bills live or die, along with the constant wave of negotiations, amendments, and revisions that must be drafted, debated, printed, reviewed, and rewritten in order for legislation to move forward.

For us at Family Protection Ministries, this season brings a significant increase in workloadโ€”more reading, analyzing, writing, meetings, discussions, and yes, even negotiations and amendment drafting.

This work is directly tied to our mission: defending the freedom of parents to train, educate, and care for their children privately, without governmental interference.

Each day, we are actively carrying out the four core steps that guide our work:

  • Detect: identifying potential threats early
  • Analyze: carefully understanding what each bill truly means
  • Monitor: tracking changes as legislation moves forward
  • Intervene: taking action to stand and protect when necessary

During this intense season, these steps accelerate rapidly and often overlap, requiring both precision and perseverance.

In the midst of this, we are reminded of Philippians 4:8โ€”that we are called to dwell on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. Even in a fast-paced and often contentious environment, our desire is to remain grounded in truth and to reflect Christ in every conversation, decision, and interaction.

Please pray for us during this critical time:

  • For clarity of thought as we detect and analyze complex legislation
  • For wisdom and discernment as we monitor developments and determine when to act
  • For favor in our conversations with legislators and staff as we intervene
  • For endurance and faithfulness to carry out this work with excellence

Please also pray that the Lord would raise up more interns to serve with us at FPMโ€”individuals who are called, capable, and ready to engage in this workโ€”so that we can stay on top of the fast-moving legislation throughout the rest of the spring and summer.

We are grateful for your partnership in prayer and for standing with us in this important work.

With gratitude,

Nathan Pierce
