Summary of Concern:

AB 2109 would require a doctor’s signature for a parent to use the current personal beliefs waiver to exempt their child from one or more of the vaccinations required for school enrollment.  There are serious problems with this new proposed legislation that are outlined in our previous AB 2109 Action Alert, which you can read here.  This would apply to all children regardless of what type of school they are in, including a private homeschool.

Action Items:

No action is needed at this time.  We will follow up with another email Action Alert when the next action is needed.  A big thanks to those who contacted the Assembly expressing your opposition to the bill.

Question About Calling Your Legislator or the Governor’s Office:

What If I am asked for my name and phone number?

If you call as an individual and are asked for your name and phone number, please consider providing them so that your call for or against the proposal will be tallied. The practice of gathering this kind of information is often used to gain an idea of the extent of support and opposition. This information has never been used by legislators to track down people who oppose or support any legislation.
