AB 1955 Passes Senate Floor After Passionate Debate

Today, AB 1955 passed a floor vote (29-8) in the California State Senate after many legislators gave passionate speeches about stories from their own past and expectations for the future. The bill has been sent back to the Assembly where the amendments (the entire bill) must be approved of in a procedure called concurrence.

Why do parents who homeschool or have their children in private schools care about AB 1955?

Because the bill undermines the pillars of freedom upon which the legal right to enroll children in a private school or homeschool has been established.
